Fed: Gov't castigated over asylum seekers

CANBERRA, Jan 17 AAP - A leading human rights watchdog has castigated Prime MinisterJohn Howard over his hard-line on asylum seekers, saying the government had blatantlybroken international refugee laws.
In its annual report, the New York-based Human Rights Watch group accused Mr Howardof using boat people to fan racism on the path to election victory last year.
