To no one's surprise, Rensselaer County Executive John L. Buono is expected to announce later this week that he will seek election in November for a third term.
Buono spokesman Jack Madden would only say, "He will make his political intentions known, most likely on Thursday." But Buono has indicated in his actions and behavior in recent weeks that he is ready to run again.
At the same time, the only Democrat mentioned right now as a possible Buono challenger is his old nemesis Charles "C.B." Smith. Four years ago Smith ran against Buono and was defeated.
